Eminence senior Syndey Dennis finished 146th in the KHSAA State Archery Championship in Lexington on April 16.
Dennis earned a score of 271 with eight tens, 15 nines and seven eights.
Her score ranked 28th out of 46 for 12th grade girls.
Eminence routs FCA on road
The Eminence baseball team earned a commanding 19-3 victory over Frankfort Christian in four innings on Monday, April 15.
The Warriors scored one run in the first inning, eight runs in the second and third innings and two runs in the fourth inning.
Dallin Malone put the first run on the board with an RBI single to center field.
In the second inning, Jake Whitaker and Austin Bright scored on a single from Cody Bradbury to push the lead to 3-0.
Hayden Kuhn followed with an RBI single to center field before Malone added another RBI single to center field to move the margin to 5-0.
Landen Greer scored on the next play on an FCA error and Tanner Simpson chipped in an RBI single to center field to bring the lead out to 7-0.
Bright contributed a two-run RBI single to left field to close out the second inning and give Eminence a 9-0 edge.
Greer opened the high-scoring third inning with a home run to center field. The Warriors loaded the bases after his hit, and Malone scored after Whitaker drew a walk to push the lead to 12-0.
Another bases-loaded walk sent Tanner Malone home for the 13th run of the game. On the next play, Jacob Maynard sent an RBI single to center field to bring in two runs and move the margin to 15-0.
Dallin Malone added another two-run RBI single to center field two plays later to bring the advantage to 17-0.
FCA avoided a shutout with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but an RBI double from Whitaker to left field and a run off an FCA error sealed the victory for the Warriors in the top of the fourth.
Dallin Malone ended with two runs, four hits and four RBI. Whitaker added three runs, two hits and two RBI and Bright and Bradbury chipped in a run, a hit and two RBI apiece.
On the mound, Greer struck out six batters in four innings.
Eminence gets revenge in shutout win over Gallatin
A week after Gallatin County knocked Eminence out of the Eighth Region All “A” Classic, the Warriors exacted revenge with a 7-0 win over the Wildcats on Tuesday, April 16.
Both teams were held scoreless until Eminence got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Dallin Malone singled on a ground ball to third base, allowing Hayden Kuhn and Landen Greer to score and give the Warriors a 2-0 edge.
Eminence added to the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. After a pair of singles, Greer doubled to center field to bring in Kuhn for the third run of the evening.
On the next play, Dallin Malone blasted a home run to left field to extend the margin to 6-0.
Tanner Simpson chipped in Eminence’s final run in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring the lead out to 7-0.
Dallin Malone led the Warriors with a run, three hits and five RBI. He also struck out seven batters in four innings on the mound.
Simpson added three strikeouts in three innings and a run and a hit at the plate.
Henry County boys tennis ties with Shelby Co., girls fall
The Henry County boys tennis team tied 2-2 with Shelby County on Monday, April 15, while the girls’ team fell 2-1.
Landen Tingle defeated Myles Engstler 8-3 in singles action for the Wildcats. Logan Woods fell to Noah Kingsolver 8-1 and Jager Mattingly dropped a match to Gavin Jewell 8-0.
Tingle and Woods teamed up in doubles action for a win over Porter Jesse and Breyden Ogden 8-3 as well.
On the girls’ side, Alyssa Harger defeated Trinity Bohannon 8-2 in singles action.
Carson Young defeated Riley Denny 8-3 in singles, and Kerringten Shield and Bryn Casey took down Henry County’s Sara Wilkerson and Ella Stivers 8-3 in doubles.
