Sponsored by the Henry County Public Library and the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the annual Spring Shindig held last week at the library in Eminence marked the beginning of the summerlong Love Local Market that is held monthly at the library grounds every third Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Chamber executive director Holly Wilson called the Love Local Market gathering “a great community event” with many vendors including food trucks that will regularly attend in addition to live music.

Among the regulars on the Love Local slate (which starts May 17) are Moonlight Farms with their farmers market goods, Troubadour Farms with their beef and Burnout BBQ.

“They’ve been a part of this since we started,” Wilson said of Burnout BBQ owned by Chris and Krystal Miller.

Cricket Waford of Troubadour Farms said their offerings of beef and honey will be available at the Friday night markets for a second straight year.

“We got it all — all the beef cuts,” she said of Troubadour Farms product that includes filet mignon, ribeye, New York strip, ground beef and beef brats in addition to upcoming bundle specials for “Beef Month” in May.

The Troubadour Farms booth located inside of the library last week, along with several other vendors, due to windy conditions.

Director of the library, Tony Jones, addressed the alternative plan for the Love Local Market incorporated by the library when necessary.

“If it’s too cold or if the weather ‘s rainy, then we’ll have them inside,” Jones said of the vendors and visitors.

But the norm for the Love Local Market is outside, where visitors can browse the wares of a variety of vendors on the lawn beside the library.

“It’s wonderful,” Jones said of the event. “That’s why this building was built the way it was to be able to do these sort of things.”

Jones credited the collaborative effort undertaken with partners to provide the vendors with space for free. The Spring Shindig held last week gave visitors a taste of what the summer holds.

“It’s one big kickoff for the Love Local season,” said Jones.

Another featured booth for the Love Local Market is the Friends of the Library book giveaway with donation.
